Urban surveillance for ZBV equipment

American Science And Engineering : 07 January, 2009  (Application Story)
Middle Eastern law enforcement department orders Z Backscatter Vans from American Science and Engineering for surveillance applications in urban areas
American Science and Engineering has announced the receipt of an order from a Middle East law enforcement agency for multiple Z Backscatter Vans (ZBV). The $2.2 million order includes AS&E-provided operator training, service, and warranty.

"This Middle East law enforcement customer has again chosen AS&E's proven and proprietary Z Backscatter technology for urban surveillance applications including screening vehicles for explosive threats and contraband," said Anthony Fabiano, President and CEO of AS&E. "With its speed and agility, the Z Backscatter Van is an important screening tool for international law enforcement, allowing security officials to respond quickly and effectively to potential security risks in urban environments."

A breakthrough in X-ray detection technology, AS&E's Z Backscatter Van is the Number One selling non-intrusive mobile inspection system on the market. ZBV is a low-cost, highly mobile screening system built into a commercially available delivery van. The ZBV allows for immediate deployment in response to security threats, and its high throughput capability facilitates rapid inspections. The system's unique "drive-by" capability allows one or two operators to conduct X-ray imaging while the ZBV drives past suspect vehicles and objects. For personnel safety in dangerous environments, a remote console is available for operating the system in stationary mode from a distance of up to 500 meters.
