Unified web threat management for small businesses.

Equiinet : 14 November, 2007  (New Product)
NetPilot Lite provides protection from web based threats and VPN connectivity for small businesses of up to 15 subscribers.
Internet security company, Equiinet, has announced the launch of a new product in its award-winning NetPilot range that is specifically designed for companies or branch offices with up to 15 users. NetPilot Lite provides an economical, easy-to use, all-in-one solution for internet security, including anti-virus, anti-spam, email policy controls, URL filtering and advanced firewall facilities. It also provides SSL-based VPN features which allow secure site-to-site connectivity and remote access applications.

Equiinet Managing Director, Keith Baker, points out that the company has been involved with the underlying technology - now commonly known as 'UTM' or 'Unified Threat Management' - for ten years:

"We have constantly found new ideas and have kept pace with market requirements. Customers like the fact that our products are stable and have a well proven track record. We are unusual in this market in being a UK company with everything designed and built here - if our customers need to talk to us they can. Most other products have an American label and typically are built in China."

NetPilot Lite has been designed to be cost-effective for even the smallest office, with a RRP of £695 which includes the first year's subscription to Equiinet's 'LiteUTM' software pack. Subsequent annual UTM software subscriptions are £200.

Whilst being based on Equiinet's market leading NetPilot range, a new version of Equiinet's operating system is being premiered in the device. This, version 5, software has a new administration interface which makes the device particularly easy to use - in essence fit and forget. Enhanced reporting facilities are also included, allowing network managers to see more easily who is visiting which websites: something that is often critical for large and smaller companies alike.
