ADT Fire & Security has put its money where its mouth is by raising over £3400.00 in the Mencap Safety Challenge. Each time an ADT employee spotted a potentially harmful situation or “near miss”, ADT donated £5 to Mencap, the UK’s leading charity supporting people with learning disabilities.
Since 2010 ADT, which is part of Tyco International, has demonstrated its commitment to safe working environments with the Tyco Zero Harm Policy. The Mencap Safety challenge provided the ideal opportunity to demonstrate this promise whilst, at the same time, educating employees and benefiting a good cause.
“Our Zero Harm policy encourages employees to view all accidents as preventable and to work together to create a safe environment,” said John Barnacle-Bowd, Head of QA & EHS at ADT Fire and Security.” Health and safety in the workplace is not a one off issue but rather an on-going challenge affecting employees, business and the broader community. By taking on the Mencap Challenge, ADT was not only able to make a positive contribution to worthy cause, but also to prove that making the workplace safe lies with each and every one of us.”
“We were delighted by ADT’s decision to take part and generous contribution,” said Leo Visconti, Head of Corporate and Regional Development at Mencap.”The success ADT had with the challenge provides further reinforcement that creating a safe working environment isn't just about protecting the individual employee or business but about contributing positively to the community by raising awareness of health and safety issues."
