Hertfordshire-based Amthal Security is one of the first installers to take advantage of the latest wireless AXTFR active beam technology from Optex Europe. The detectors are being used as part of a wider security system to protect a North London Honda dealership from unwanted intruders.

The AXTFR forms part of Optex Europe's high performance BoundaryGard external detection product portfolio. Its solutions comprise the AX100/200TFR range of battery powered active beams delivering 30m/60m detection, available in either a single head or multi head tower configuration. Battery life is up to five years, and each product is capable of integrating with most wireless technologies currently available. The range can also complement Optex Europe's battery powered GSM, with the option of a hard-wired connection if required.

Amthal Security has a longstanding relationship with both Optex Europe and the car dealership, explains Founding Director Paul Rosenthal: "Amthal Security is celebrating its 10th year of business this year, but I've used and advocated Optex detectors for some 20 years, having always found them to offer reliable performance at a reasonable cost.

"We have worked with the dealership to protect its three other premises in and around the London area. When the dealership took over the Enfield site with a legacy system in need of an upgrade, we were once again approached to advise and design the best system.

"Alongside the showroom's intruder alarm, we fitted a number of CCTV dome cameras, replacing some of the existing cameras where necessary. To protect the perimeter, which is gated on three sides with an open front, we selected the Optex AXTFR range. The detectors were mounted on specially crafted brackets, with the beams covering the front of the building to detect any out-of-hours movement on the forecourt.

"When the building alarm is set in the evening, there is a short delay to allow employees to exit the site before the beams are activated. If motion is detected, an alert is sent to the monitoring centre which can then view images from the CCTV cameras to determine the most appropriate course of action.

"If the activation is caused by a potential customer who is on the forecourt to look at a car for example, then they can leave them to browse in peace. If the activation is something more serious, for example vandals or thieves, staff at the control room can make a live voice announcement and then call a keyholder or the police as necessary.

"In the AXTFR range we are confident that we have given the dealership the very best in detection technology, and they are delighted with the finished system," Paul concludes.

Paul Brayley, Managing Director of Brayley Honda adds: "We have worked with Amthal Security over the past few years and trust in them to provide the most appropriate security solution. Optex detectors are already in place at the other dealerships and we are pleased with the reliability that they offer."

Independently-owned and trusted by hundreds of residential, business and major public sector customers including hospitals, schools and police forces, Amthal Security designs and installs tailored, modern and effective electronic security systems, based on the latest technology, with the most reliable, comprehensive monitoring facilities, all backed by its specialist service team.
