ESET UK, the anti-virus software and proactive threat detection provider, has announced an agreement with PC World to stock ESET’s high performance security solutions for home users and it is offering consumers 50% off selected products.
ESET’s flagship software title ESET Smart Security Home Edition, along with Cybersecurity for Mac and NOD32 Antivirus, will be on sale in PC World / Currys stores across the UK. This is the first time ESET software has been available within major retail and represents a milestone in the ongoing growth and success of the company.
To date ESET’s route to market for both consumer and business has been through its website and through a valued network of partners and resellers. Its arrival on the UK high street will bring ESET’s products to a new, much larger market and ensure that ESET competes on an equal footing with other more established security bands.
Quinton Watts, VP of marketing at ESET UK: “ESET has a strong reputation amongst its current user base and an enviable performance record. We have received 68 Virus Bulletin awards and have consistently received high Advanced AV Comparatives awards in proactive threat detection. We are therefore delighted to have formed a commercial agreement with PC World to sell our software. The security market is extremely competitive but our product has proven technical excellence and will be fiercely competitive.”
ESET is currently offering its Smartsecurity (Internet Security Suite), three users, one year licence in half price at PC World stores. The offer will run from today until September 14 2011 and the price of the product will be reduced from £49.99 to £24.99.
ESET was founded in Slovakia in 1992 and began formal distribution in the UK in 2003. Over the last couple of years the company has grown double figures in the UK, building a strong market in the B2B sector, particularly within public sector and education, and also within consumer audiences, particularly amongst gamers where high security and processing speed are key requirements.
