UK channel partner for Aladdin Knowledge Systems.

Aladdin Knowledge Systems : 04 February, 2008  (Company News)
UK internet expert picks up distribution deal for Aladdin product set for the UK and Northern Ireland.
Aladdin Knowledge Systems has extended its global agreement with Computerlinks, a highly respected distributor of IT security and Internet technology solutions, to include the UK and Ireland. The new contract covers both the Aladdin eSafe and Aladdin eToken product portfolios and follows on from strong existing relationships with other European Computerlinks subsidiaries as well as recently signed agreements in the USA, Canada and Australia.

David Ellis, Director of e-Security, Professional Services and Training for Computerlinks, said, "We have very strong existing relationships with Aladdin in other European Computerlinks subsidiaries and this agreement is an extension of what is currently in place. As part of our launch, we will be rolling out a number of value-added services such as onsite hardware support and 24x7 telephone support. In addition, we will offer training and demonstration/evaluation programmes to support Aladdin's efforts."

The appointment of a new distribution partner is a response to demand from the channel following an increase in security threats over the last few years. According to statistics from Aladdin's Content Security Response Team (CSRT), there were a total of over 1 million new instances of individual malicious code specimens identified in 2007. This represents an increase of 600 percent from the new malicious codes identified in the previous year.

The last few years have also seen a sharp increase in information theft incidents and severity with over 65 percent of spyware detected also engaged in Trojan activity, such as the creation of backdoors on infected machines, collection of personal user information, logging of keystrokes and turning infected machines into spamming bots.

In response to fears over identity theft, sales of two-factor authentication have also risen sharply. Financial services are a particularly buoyant market, especially with the prospect of European initiatives similar to regulatory advice in the United States, which encourages all American financial institutions to use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to safeguard customers during online transactions.

"The security landscape is evolving rapidly as more people and business applications start to interact with the Internet. Security is an ongoing concern and Aladdin has a proven track record across the content security field with a product offering that helps provide a multi-tiered solution to many of the common concerns faced by businesses of all kinds", Ellis adds.

With over 20 years of experience under both its previous Unipalm and more recent COMPUTERLINKS brands, the company has built a substantial base of UK and Irish channel reseller partners including VARs, OEMs, systems integrators, ASPs and ISPs. The company has also won the highly coveted CRN Channel "Security Distributor of the Year" Award for the last four consecutive years.

"We have a very successful relationship with Computerlinks in other parts of the world and this new agreement is a natural extension to help support our growing markets in the UK and Ireland", comments Frank Eschenlohr, Vice President of Sales for Aladdin Europe. "By working with an active distributor who will help us educate, sell and support, we hope to continue our strategy of growth in the UK and deliver the high level of service our channel partners have come to expect from us."

Computerlinks joins ARC Technology Distribution as distributors of Aladdin Knowledge Systems products in the UK and Ireland. Eschenlohr adds, "Both our distributors have strong product portfolios with a range of value added services. Multiple distribution paths give our channel partners increased flexibility and access to a broader range of complementary technologies from a single trusted source."
