Sourcefire : 20 March, 2009  (Company News)
Sourcefire 3D and Snort are both up for prizes in the SC Magazine 2009 european awards
Open source innovator and Snort creator, Sourcefire is a finalist in two categories of the SC Magazine Awards Europe for 2009.

"Sourcefire is proud to be recognised by the SC Awards for the increased System and Snort provide to our users," said Graham Welch, Managing Director EMEA for Sourcefire. "Sourcefire combines leading technology with the Vulnerability Research Team to provide our users with the best protection against the latest threats. This recognition from the SC Awards highlights the value that Sourcefire delivers and we are particularly proud that both our open source and commercial solution have been shortlisted."

Sourcefire's open source solution, Snort, will be defending its title as 'Best Network Security' solution, after winning the coveted title at the SC Awards 2008 Europe, and the Sourcefire 3D System is a finalist for 'Best Enterprise Security'. The SC Magazine Awards Europe highlights the best products, services and professionals from the information security industry. The Awards are also designed to reward excellence and innovation in every aspect of IT security. Finalists have been selected from more than 300 entries submitted in 19 technology categories. The winners will be chosen by a distinguished judging panel, which is comprised of IT leaders in various industries.

Paul Fisher, Editor for SC Magazine UK, said: "The 2009 SC Awards Europe have delivered more entries than ever before and the names on the shortlist are world-class. The quality of the judges and the judging process prove the strength of the SC brand and have made the SC Awards Europe unrivalled in the industry."

The annual SC Awards have recognised security's key contributors and outstanding products for more than a decade. Individuals, brands and products shortlisted for the SC Awards address not only the challenges prominent today, but also the emerging threat landscape of tomorrow. The winners of this year's SC Awards will be announced at a gala dinner and award ceremony at the Hurlingham Club in Fulham on 28th April, during the Infosecurity Europe 2009 Conference & Expo.

Sourcefire is consistently recognised for its innovation and industry leadership with more than 40 awards and accolades to date. Most recently the company was named a finalist for the Network Products Guide "Hot Companies" award and to the Deloitte Fast 500 list. Sourcefire has also been named as a finalist for two awards in the SC Magazine Awards 2009 in the US, where it has been shortlisted in the "Best Intrusion Detection/Prevention Solution" and "Best Anti-Malware" Categories. Additionally, Martin Roesch was named one of eWeek's Top 100 Most Influential People in IT.
