Two-factor network access control from Thus

Thus : 21 April, 2009  (New Product)
Flexible strong authentication enables token-based or transmitted one-time passwords for network access from mobile or remote users
Thus has launched Secure Identity Access, a managed security service which identifies authorised network users and enables secure access to a company's vital data, applications and systems in an environment where simple password protection is not enough.

Secure Identity Access (SIA) is a two factor authentication service providing simple and affordable security whatever the size of company. Working with delivery partner Signify, the UK's leading provider of fully hosted authentication services, THUS will offer scalable Secure Identity Access, ideal for small to medium businesses seeking enhanced security for other critical applications.

Secure Identity Access can help organisations generate significant efficiency savings, as by enabling secure remote access businesses can expand their flexible working policy without compromising on security. In addition, there are total cost of ownership advantages, as organisations can save up to 75% when compared to running equivalent in-house services. As it is a 'cloud service', there is no infrastructure to buy or manage.

Companies understand that data and application security is paramount but this has to be balanced by allowing users quick and simple access to the information and systems they need. SIA offers a secure and reliable solution that flexible and easy to deploy and is managed through a self service web portal, keeping costs down and making it easy for small businesses to manage. In addition it will also help small businesses comply with regulatory issues around the right to flexible working, as well as offering a platform for expanding Smarter Working and Green Working initiatives.

Dan Cole Director of Products and Marketing said, "Customer data is no longer isolated on the LAN as many organisations have home workers, mobile staff and business partners who access the network. SIA provides a method of ensuring access is provided to authorised users in a manageable, efficient and effective though primarily, a secure manner.

Dave Abraham CEO at Signify said, "This type of network security gives employees the same access to corporate systems and applications as if they were in the office. Therefore with reduced travel time and travel costs, staff will contribute to increased company productivity while enjoying the benefits of flexible and home working. For everyone, it's a genuine win/win".

Secure Identity Access sits within Thus' Connect suite of wide area data network and internet access products. It provides secure access to corporate networks and resources for remote and mobile workers and others as authorised.

There are flexible options for users who need regular or occasional remote access. Regular users are issued with an RSA SecurID token that generates a unique one time passcode every 60 seconds. Occasional users can have a one time passcode sent to their mobile phone or PDA

By combining this with their user name and secret PIN, users can log into a corporate network safely and securely at any time using any device from anywhere.
