TSA order for X-ray detection equipment

OSI Systems : 11 September, 2008  (Application Story)
Rapiscan 620DV X-Ray scanning systems order by the TSA for deployment at US airports
OSI Systems has announced that its Security division, Rapiscan Systems, has been awarded a follow on order for approximately $15 million for its Rapiscan 620DV (Dual-View) Advanced Technology X-Ray scanning systems from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). This order brings the total amount awarded to date to approximately $32 million since receiving an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity Order from the TSA in August 2007.

The TSA has deployed the Rapiscan 620DV at various locations including the Los Angeles International Airport. The deployment at Los Angeles International Airport represents the largest installation of AT systems at any single site in the United States. The Rapiscan 620DV allows security officers to obtain multiple views of a carry-on bag. Additionally, the systems have the ability to be upgraded in the future as new capabilities are developed.

Rapiscan Systems President Ajay Mehra stated, "TSA's adoption of the 620DV technology demonstrates Rapiscan's continuing leadership in delivering efficient, effective checkpoint screening technologies that the aviation security market demands today. The system's flexibility ensures that it will remain a key contributor to aviation security for years to come."
