Suicide prevention software for prisons

Mobile BIS : 10 June, 2008  (New Product)
Mobile enables alert software aids prison officials in responding to possible cases of suicide
Mobile BIS has announced a "Suicide Watch" application designed to prevent self-inflicted fatal injuries by prison and jail inmates. The turn-key software product is the newest addition to a suite of applications specifically designed for public safety and employed by law enforcement agencies across the country to track and apprehend criminal suspects.

Michael Macho, president of Mobile BIS, a division of BIS Computer Solutions, Inc., said, "Guards will have Suicide Watch software installed on their mobile devices that will trigger an instant alert at the first sign of a possible suicide victim and speed immediate medical assistance. The application also meets federal and state requirements for tracking of inmates on suicide watch by prison and jail officers.

Added Miro Macho, Chief Executive Officer of BIS Computer Solutions: "We expect our software will not only save numerous lives but will have a positive economic benefit in reducing financial liability of jails and prisons for inmate suicides."

He said the Public Safety suite "will integrate with any existing Jail/Corrections data base or management system on the market today. The integration," he added, "can be completed without changing or upgrading existing systems and back end solutions."

The Suicide Watch, along with other applications in the Mobile BIS Public Safety suite, draws on a range of development tools from Oracle, including the Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Database Lite Mobile Server.
