Successful explosive detection benchmark test

Brijot Imaging Systems : 18 September, 2007  (New Product)
Brijot's weapons and explosive screening system undergoes successful benchmark testing.
Brijot Imaging Systems has announced the results of a benchmark study of the BIS-WDS GEN 2 detection engine. The evaluation, conducted by an independent testing firm, measured technical capabilities in detecting explosives and weapons where testing protocols simulated actual security threats, conditions and scenarios. Fifteen thousand trials were conducted with a variety of concealed threat objects. The results show a statistically significant detection probability (P=99.7%) for explosive detection and (P=87.4 %) for weapon detection. Brijot's GEN 2 displayed a tremendous ability to detect liquid explosives (P=86.1%), demonstrating a true capacity to overcome the limitations of metal detectors in use at traditional screening checkpoints such as airports. The results for the benchmark testing verify the scalability and reliability of the Brijot system as a technically sound screening solution in high threat security environments particularly for large threat weapons and explosives.

"Brijot strives to be a market leading manufacturer of systems used in reducing potential security threats for people screening processes and security checkpoints by offering passive millimeter wave technology solutions. This benchmark initiative creates a framework for measuring our key organizational objectives and provides a foundation for future collaborative efforts within the industry for performance criteria," said Mitchel Laskey, president and chief executive officer at Brijot.

Brijot's commitment to pioneer and further foster industry collaboration has led to the coordination and sponsoring of an industry first event - a Passive Millimeter Wave Imaging Summit Roundtable Discussion. The inaugural summit, scheduled for September 23, in Las Vegas, and in conjunction with the ASIS International Annual Seminar and Exhibit, will bring together industry, educational and government leaders to support the growth, collaboration, and market research of millimeter wave technologies within the security market.
