Strong Cloud Authentication Chosen By Obsecure

Swivel Secure : 13 June, 2011  (Application Story)
Digital risk platform takes PINsafe from Swivel Secure for cloud protection through strong authentication technology

PINsafe, the trusted two-factor and strong authentication platform from Swivel Secure, has been selected by Australian secure document management specialist, Obsecure, to provide an additional security layer for its cloud based document management solution, Obsecure 360.

Obsecure 360 is a technology suite that protects data, whether held in a closed environment or in the cloud, during both transmission and storage. Deployed across a range of different sectors, and with particular reference within the healthcare and document management markets, it integrates document protection, document management and access control modules into a single, unified digital risk management system.

PINsafe has been integrated with the Obsecure solution to enforce an additional step in the authentication process, confirming that only authorised users are able to access the critical data stored in the system.  Whenever users need to access the Obsecure digital vault, in addition to their username and password they will need to enter a one-time-code based on their PINsafe registered PIN and a security string sent to their mobile phone or Web browser.  PINsafe is widely used by major global enterprises and government organisations and eliminates the need to provide users with an individual ID token, which has been the accepted norm for this type of application in the past.

Fraser Thomas, VP International at Swivel Secure, comments: “When offered alongside Obsecure’ s EAL4+ Common Criteria secure envelope and document management modules, PINsafe adds another level of assurance for users that the integrity of the contained documents and associated data are highly protected. The use of multiple layers of security to prevent unauthorised access to information, combined with the two-factor nature of PINsafe, results in Obsecure being a solution which minimises threats and reduces the commercial vulnerability of any business which shares data over the internet.”

Paul Waite, Director of Solutions at Obsecure adds: “PINsafe was selected from four strong authentication products based on its ease of integration and deployment. It greatly enhances Obsecure 360’s position as a unique global cloud offering, which securely protects valuable business assets that are sent, stored and accessed via a browser.”
