StarDot "video on motion" function integrated with LuxRiot platform

LuxRiot : 02 February, 2009  (New Product)
LuxRiot adds StarDot's megapixel camera range to its platform support enabling its customers to take full advantage of StarDot's low bandwidth features and edge analytics
LuxRiot video recorder software has been fully integrated into StarDot's NetCam SC MegaPixel IP camera series. StarDot Technologies, a manufacturer of IP Video cameras and servers, specialises in hybrid IP Video products, designed to ease the transition from analogue CCTV cameras to the digital world of MegaPixel IP cameras. LuxRiot is a Digital Video Recording (DVR) and remote surveillance software package designed by A&H Software House. DVR or NVR (network video recorder) software is the next step in security camera recording technology, replacing the current standalone hardware DVRs as well as older VCRs.

The LuxRiot software takes full advantage of the NetCam SC's "video on motion" function, which dramatically reduces network bandwidth by only transmitting full speed video when the camera detects motion. When the NetCam camera detects no motion, only a confidence or "keep alive" frame is transmitted periodically. The NetCam SC MegaPixel cameras provide up to fifteen times the resolution of the best analog CCTV camera. The video clarity goes beyond high definition and is excellent for facial recognition and capturing license plate data. Another popular application for MegaPixel cameras is using one multi-megapixel IP camera to replace several traditional CCTV cameras.

"One of the biggest concerns about migrating to MegaPixel camera technology is the amount of bandwidth and storage used", said Vance Kozik, StarDot's product manager, "The NetCam SC camera puts the motion detection technology at the edge, eliminating the need to continuously send video of an empty scene across the network for processing on the server. The LuxRiot software takes full advantage of this technology, which not only reduces bandwidth but also reduces the CPU load, allowing the software to record additional cameras."

"LuxRiot is more than just excited to add support for the StarDot MegaPixel cameras," said Frank Calipari, LuxRiot's sales and account manager for Europe, "StarDot's cost-effective technology solves even the most difficult image capture problems. LuxRiot is looking forward to working with customers using StarDot devices." In addition to "video on motion", the LuxRiot DVR software also supports visualization of NetCam's motion and full control over resolution, quality and frame rate though the LuxRiot software interface.
