Sphinx and Alcatel-Lucent form firewall partnership

Alcatel-Lucent : 21 April, 2009  (Company News)
Agreement enables resellers to make use of distributor Sphinx' expertise in deploying firewall security systems from Alcatel-Lucent
Alcatel-Lucent's convergence distributor Sphinx will be expanding its portfolio to include Alcatel-Lucent's award-winning VPN Firewall Brick security platform.

While businesses are scrutinising IT expenditure now more than ever, security has remained a key spend area, with the ability to secure voice and data network traffic a top priority. In particular, the use of VoIP systems - which have grown steadily in popularity thanks to the cost savings they offer - can open up businesses to countless security risks if not effectively secured. This provides channel partners with a lucrative opportunity which should be capitalised on in order to increase revenue streams in the tough financial climate.

To address this, Alcatel-Lucent and Sphinx are working together to bring the VPN Firewall Brick security platform to all Alcatel-Lucent indirect business partners, as well as Sphinx's existing security resellers. This unique Bell Labs designed solution - originally created to secure the US government's classified networks - safeguards and guarantees quality of service for VoIP calls, and protects web facing applications. The Brick holds a number of industry recognised certifications and has no known CERT* vulnerabilities.

"We are excited to be extending our Alcatel-Lucent product portfolio and see massive potential for the Brick solution," said Mark Hatton, managing director at Sphinx. "By providing first-class security solutions to address the current market demands, we can help our channel partners widen their product portfolios and increase margins during these difficult economic times."

With its strong security background, Sphinx has the experience and expertise to ensure channel partners feel fully supported and comfortable in bringing the Alcatel-Lucent Brick solution to end-users. The company is also fully qualified to install the Brick solution.

"With security still top of mind for most businesses, the Sphinx partnership will allow us to offer a unique, future-proof solution that will not only save these companies money in the long term, but also give them the dynamic edge needed in today's competitive environment," said David Parker, vice president for Alcatel-Lucent's enterprise activities in the UK and Ireland.

Sphinx will be holding a channel focused event at the end of April to introduce the Brick solution to its security and Alcatel-Lucent resellers.
