South African police network order for Saab

Saab : 11 February, 2009  (Application Story)
Saab to supply transmission network for video surveillance and voice networking to South African police ahead of the 2010 World Cup
Saab has received a contract within the civil security field worth approximately MZAR 200. Saab will, as a subcontractor to Integcomm, deliver technology and installation services to a command and control network for the South African Police Service in the Eastern Cape.

The new command and control system is a major investment ahead of the 2010 world cup in South Africa and aims at improving the security for the approximately 7 million people living in the province. Saab will for example supply the transmission network, systems for mobile video transmission, voice data and video recording as well as integration and network installation services.

Some 16,000 provincial officers will use the system to communicate clearly and securely with their colleagues on the field.

The project will run for five years.
