Solar Power Requirement Reduction Achieved on Radar Speed Signs
Information Display Company has reduced by more than 50% the energy requirements of its radar speed signs and other traffic displays. Made possible through the implementation of advanced design features, the lower energy requirements allow users to save significantly on the cost of solar powered installations of SpeedCheck radar speed displays.

In keeping with their mission statement, 'Industry leading quality and value', Information Display Company's engineering department widened their lead in power efficiency by implementing new technologies that have 'been in development for quite awhile'. They stressed that development continues apace, and that they expect even further significant improvements to be implemented in the not too distant future.

According to Information Display Company, the biggest advantage of the new energy-efficient radar speed signs is the reduced costs associated with operating the speed displays using solar power. Lower power requirements result in the need for fewer or smaller solar panels and batteries. The savings are expected to dramatically increase SpeedCheck's already significant advantage in solar powered signs.

"We recently spoke to a customer who told us that the solar power package required to operate a competitive display would cost well over $2,200. Sized for the same geographic region, our energy efficient display requires a solar power package priced at less than $800," said Gary ODell, president of Information Display Company. Information Display Company is already widely recognized for providing reliable solar powered signs that work year-round through the darkest days of winter, where others don't.

The new energy-efficiency features have been implemented in Information Display Company's entire line of radar speed signs, variable message signs and intelligent traffic signs.
