Single touch alert and speed dial on Romad lone worker device.

Romtrac : 01 November, 2007  (New Product)
National Personal Safety Day sees launch of new lone worker protection system offering latest technology including GPS location capability
Romtrac, the new market leader in lone worker personal safety and workforce management solutions, launches today on National Personal Safety Day. Romtrac provides a specially designed mobile device and safety management system that can identify, communicate, locate and respond to lone workers rapidly and accurately in any emergency situation.

With 317,000 physical assaults on British workers in 2005/2006 and 299,000 accidents in the same period, security and safety at work is a big issue for organisations. National Personal Safety Day is organised by the Suzy Lamplugh Trust and is an annual event aimed at raising awareness of these risks including the simple, practical solutions that help to avoid violence and safety risk in today's society.

Romtrac is launching into the personal safety and security market that is set to boom following the updated Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act, coming into force next year. The Act has been amended to make it much easier for a company's senior management to be held responsible and, as a consequence, successfully prosecuted for the death of employees in their care. Companies all over the UK will need to evaluate their lone and remote worker security arrangements in order to protect themselves should the worst happen.

Using proprietary mobile GPS and location-based technologies within a discreet, robust device, Romtrac can enhance lone or remote worker safety by providing a secure way of contacting, identifying and locating users. Romtrac's Romad device and safety management system provides unrivalled peace of mind and security. The Romad device provides one touch SOS alert switch, speed dials to emergency contact points and connection with accredited response centres that have access to individual user profiles. Incorporating the latest SiRF GPS chipset and high sensitive omni-directional aerial, the device provides unmatched location accuracy with low power consumption.

Michael Carrington, Director of Romtrac commented: "With legislative changes moving through Parliament that raise the bar for corporate responsibility regarding lone worker safety, it is vital that organisations look at how technology can protect and support staff when away from the office. Without sufficient measures in place, many organisations may find that they are exposed to serious penalties when the bill comes into force. Our solution helps mitigate the risks that lone workers face by providing them with a robust and secure method of getting the help they need, fast. With our bespoke platform that is designed to interface with Security Industry Association (SIA) certified response centres, companies can rest easy that they have the best lone worker safety solution for protecting their employees."
