Single Sign-On Integrated With PalmSecure For Biometric Authentication

Passlogix : 20 September, 2010  (New Product)
Passlogix and Fujitsu have integrated the PalmSecure vascular biometric recognition technology with v-GO Single Sign-On to add biometrics to two-factor access control and user authentication
Fujitsu Frontech North America has announced the integration of the latest PalmSecure biometric identification technology with Passlogix's v-GO Single Sign-On (SSO), enabling end users to access enterprise applications with a secure and hacker proof palm scan instead of creating, managing, remembering and inputting different passwords for each account. Users simply wave their palm over a biometric reader to be authenticated once to the v-GO-enabled application based on their unique palm vein pattern.

Deploying PalmSecure technology in conjunction with v-GO SSO helps restrict access to corporate information assets to authorized users, prevent data compromises related to password theft, eliminate user frustration and lost productivity associated with password usage, and facilitate compliance with regulatory mandates such as HIPAA, SOX and PCI DSS.

The joint solution will be demonstrated at Fujitsu Booth #325 at the Biometric Consortium Conference and Technology Expo on September 21-23, 2010 at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Florida.

"Organizations are adopting biometric SSO solutions to remove loopholes in security procedures and increase productivity by eliminating the need for password resets." said Vic Herring, vice president of sales and marketing, Fujitsu Frontech North America. "Integrating our PalmSecure technology with v-GO SSO delivers a simplified, secure and cost-effective solution for enterprise identity management."

"Single sign-on and strong authentication technologies are clearly heading toward convergence. This partnership is another step in that direction," said Matt Berzinski, director of product management of Passlogix. "Enterprises now have the option to deploy the Fujitsu palm vein recognition platform side by side with our single sign-on solution, and essentially double the advantages of each."

The Fujitsu award-winning PalmSecure technology is a palm vein-based strong authentication solution that uses near-infrared light to capture a person's palm vein pattern, generating a unique biometric template that is matched against pre-registered user palm vein patterns. The small palm vein device can recognize the pattern only if the blood is actively flowing within the individual's veins, making forgery virtually impossible.

This advanced vascular pattern recognition technology provides highly reliable authentication with a false accept rate of just 0.00008 percent and an exceptional false reject rate of 0.01 percent. Authentication typically takes less than one second.

PalmSecure technology has been deployed worldwide in a wide range of vertical markets, including security, banking, healthcare, education, retail and commercial enterprises. Additional applications include physical access control, logical access control, retail POS systems, ATMs, kiosks, time and attendance management systems, visitor ID management and other industry-specific biometric applications.

v-GO Single Sign-On is the market's leading enterprise single sign-on (ESSO) solution, enabling users to access any Windows, mainframe, Web, Citrix or mainframe application with a single Windows logon by automating username and password entry for each account. When used with strong authentication technology like PalmSecure, it extends the extra security benefits beyond the network door to individual applications and accounts without the time and expense of application customization or modification.

v-GO authenticates users via the selected strong authentication system, automatically maps the identity to the correct id/password for each application, and automatically injects that id/password into the application without manual user input or even knowledge of the id/password, eliminating the risk of password sharing.

v-GO deployments range from hundreds of seats to a 200,000+-user project that is one the world's largest ESSO implementation. Wizard-based integration eliminates the need to write scripts or connectors even to homegrown or legacy applications, and the ability to install the solution on existing servers eliminates the expense of adding dedicated or proprietary hardware. These and other features shorten deployment time, lower the total cost of ownership, and accelerate payback on investment.
