Single Sign-on certification for SaaS

Ping Identity : 02 October, 2009  (New Product)
PingFederate 6.1 completes Liberty SAML 2.0 interoperability testing for use in SaaS and Internet Single Sign-On environments
Ping Identity has announced its latest release of PingFederate (version 6.1) has successfully completed Liberty SAML 2.0 interoperability testing. Ping Identity is the only vendor to participate in the last two out of three Liberty Interoperable full-matrix testing events. PingFederate has completed SAML 2.0 interoperability testing with more vendors than any other product in the Identity Management space.

"Ping Identity has become the market leader in identity federation not simply because we've proven scale and interoperability, but because we've made deployment and on-going management simple and efficient," said Ping Identity CTO Patrick Harding. "Over hundreds of Internet and SaaS Single Sign-On deployments, we've found the primary reason projects fail or experience costly delays is because the security, scalability and interoperability is either not tested or not proven. With PingFederate, we eliminate those risks. There is no need to suffer through the time and frustration associated with designing, building, implementing and testing a homegrown solution. "

Other vendors participating in this year's testing event included Entrust, IBM, Microsoft, Novell, SAP and Siemens. It is the first event to test products against the new eGovernment SAML 2.0 profile v1.5 recently released by Liberty Alliance. Web-based full-matrix testing allows vendors to participate from anywhere in the world and features rigorous processes for ensuring products meet SAML 2.0 interoperability requirements for open, secure and privacy-respecting federated identity management.

This year's program featured enhanced SAML 2.0 testing scenarios between Service Provider (SP) and Identity Provider (IdP). The eGovernment SAML 2.0 profile and its requisite test plan was developed by Liberty Alliance with input from the Danish, New Zealand and U.S. governments. Testing processes for the eGovernment profile included multiple SP logout scenarios, requested authentication context comparisons, and other aspects of SAML 2.0 necessary to meet interoperability, privacy, security and transparency requirements in the global eGovernment sector.

With the completion of the July 14 - September 4, 2009, testing event, PingFederate has now successfully completed interoperability testing with the following vendor solutions:

* CA Federation Manager
* Entrust GetAccess
* Entrust IdentityGuard Federation Module
* IBM Tivoli Federated Identity Manager
* Microsoft Active Directory Federation Services
* NTT Software Corporation's TrustBind/Federation Manager
* Novell Access Manager
* Oracle Identity Federation
* RSA Federated Identity Manager
* SAP NetWeaver Identity Manager
* Siemens DirX Access
* Ubiscure Solution's Ubilogin SSO

"We commend Ping Identity for their participation in the summer 2009 Liberty Interoperable full-matrix testing event," said Brett McDowell, executive director, Kantara Initiative. "Vendors passing Liberty Interoperable SAML 2.0 testing have successfully proven that their products interoperate with each other across rigorous real world deployment scenarios.'
