Single Packaged Custom Locks Now Available

Pickersgill-Kaye : 14 November, 2011  (New Product)
Pickersgill-Kay has come up with the Lock-in-a-box concept for supplying custom locks through a simplified ordering and delivery process
Single Packaged Custom Locks Now Available
Pickersgill-Kaye, manufacturers of multipoint locks, bolts and secure access systems, is launching a lock-in-a-box package which will simplify customer ordering and streamline production.

This latest innovation from the Leeds-based company will enable its customers, after they have answered a few simple questions such as whether the door opens inwards or outwards and hinging arrangements, to receive everything needed for lock installation in a single package.

Previously, customers were required to manually select each item needed, a time consuming process which after listing door plates, lock cylinders, guards and handles could run into several order lines, with the added risk that one or more of the items could be wrong.

The introduction of lock-in-a-box also has major benefits for Pickersgill-Kaye because not only will it remove some of the complexities involved in supplying the products but it will also enable the company to have better production pre-planning, which should further improve delivery times.

However, the biggest winners are door manufacturers as it will simplify their Pickersgill-Kaye stockholding and also improve logistics.

Initially, lock-in-a-box orders will be processed by Pickersgill-Kaye manually, and customers will be asked the various questions in a text format. However, the company is currently working on a software solution which will enable customers to configure the product for themselves, next year.

Pickersgill-Kaye's managing director Peter Murphy explains: "We decided to go down this particular route because of the complexity of the Multipoint range and to avoid customers having to look around for different items such as striking plates.

"As part of the process Pickersgill-Kaye is also developing a piece of software which will ask customers a few simple questions and then match their specifications with Pickersgill-Kaye's production needs.  That will then save time down the supply line, and ensure that the right product is supplied pre-packed for a specific door."

Pickersgill-Kaye believes that lock-in-a-box will enable customers to reduce their contingency stockholding, leading to further customer satisfaction, thanks to pre-order configuration.

This latest development by Pickersgill-Kaye follows hard-on-the-heels of the recent BS EN 1125:2008 and BS EN 179:2008 ratings for its emergency escape locks included in the high Security Multipoint range.

The company manufactures an extensive range of surface mounted and mortice version locks. These include emergency and panic exit devices, and specialised function locks with modular lock cases to suit either panic bar, paddle handle or lever operation. All of Pickersgill-Kaye's multi and single point locks are built to the highest technical standards and aesthetically designed to complement the modern workplace.
