SIA raid more significant than first appears

International Professional Security Association (IPSA) : 07 May, 2009  (Company News)
The International Professional Security Association comments on the recent crack-down on unlicensed door security by the SIA
The recent press notice issued by the SIA about a raid on a company in Scotland didn't give as much detail as the local newspaper. The Herald article gives far more detail and shows that at long last the SIA is targeting the big fish.

Licensing in Northern Ireland is already hitting snags. Applicants quick off the mark for the start of licensing have discovered that the links with AccessNI for the criminality checks are not yet in place, leaving the applicants being told to arrange their own checks (as with any overseas countries). The SIA has told me that they will be making an announcement this week that everything is in place and that they are open for business, but it would have been nice if 'accepting Northern Ireland applications in May 2009' had actually been in place for the 1st of May.
