Senior UK appointment for Sendmail

Channel Sales Manager for the UK to develop channel partnership program to supply e-mail security products into the growing UK market
Sendmail has announced the appointment of Michael Taylor as Channel Sales Manager. Based in the London office, Taylor will be responsible for establishing the channel in the UK and developing revenue streams through key partners. The new Sendmail channel programme will be focused on SME sales in the UK, before extending into Europe.

Headquartered in Emeryville, California, the company is best known for its ubiquitous sendmail open source mail transfer agent (MTA) software, which was first published in 1982. In 1998, Sendmail was incorporated to develop and sell commercial versions of the MTA and other software components. Today, the company markets a line of message processing appliances under the brand name Sentrion. Sentrion Message Processors are high-performance policy-centric messaging security systems that provide the required infrastructure for complex email routing and delivery as well as inbound and outbound applications for clean, secure, compliant and authenticated messaging.

"This is an important time for Sendmail, and one where the channel will play an essential role," said Taylor. "Sendmail already has strong links into the enterprise sector and we want to expand our offering into the SME space. Using the channel is an ideal route to market for us. Over the next 12 months, I am looking to sign 8 - 10 strategic partners with infrastructure and security experience across the UK " Taylor added.

Prior to joining Sendmail, Taylor was responsible for business and channel development in Western Europe at Nokia and also spent time developing the channel for both Qualys and Finjan. With 12 years in the IT industry, Taylor is well-placed to help Sendmail develop value-added resellers for its single-tier channel, who understand both the infrastructure, security and compliance concerns facing businesses when it comes to message processing.

Ian Emery, Vice President, Sales EMEA for Sendmail comments, "Michael is the right person to take on this challenge. He will be educating potential partners on our expertise in e-mail infrastructures and managing bi-directional message processing with policy-based routing, and thus helping us expand our presence in the UK. He brings with him proven success in developing channel relationships and aiding the growth of an organisation through the channel."

A recent poll by Sendmail showed that over a quarter of people don't understand what they can and can't send out over company email. With such end-user confusion, the market opportunities for channel partners is vast.
