Security suite undergoes government evaluation tests

Shavlik Technologies : 17 July, 2009  (New Product)
Shavlik Security Suite Government Edition is currently undergoing Common Criteria EAL 3+ testing for use in US Federal Government applications
Shavlik Technologies has announced that the Shavlik Security Suite Government Edition has been listed as "In Evaluation" with Canadian Common Criteria Evaluation and Certification Scheme.

The Common Criteria international standard provides assurance that the process of specification, implementation and evaluation of a computer security product has been conducted in a rigorous and standard manner. The Shavlik Security Suite is currently undergoing review at Evaluation Assurance Level 3+ (EAL 3+). EAL 3+ Common Criteria represents the highest security standards certification essential for any government or international sales requirement.

Shavlik's solutions already support multiple government certifications and standards including SCAP Validation, FDCC Scanner and IAV Compliance Reporting that are today being leveraged by hundreds of thousands of machines throughout the U.S. federal government. The EAL 3+ Common Criteria Certification expands Shavlik's support for government information assurance and cyber security initiatives, and will continue to further Shavlik's presence in the DOD and multiple other government agencies.

"We look forward to meeting this US government and international common criteria standard and receiving full validation," said Mark Shavlik, CEO, Shavlik Technologies. "Common Criteria validation is an important step towards accelerating the growth of the Shavlik Security Suite into the expanding government security market."

Shavlik added, "This pending Common Criteria validation of the Shavlik Security Suite will complement our existing SCAP and FDCC Scanner Validations achieved over a year ago. These combined industry benchmarks represent a baseline requirement for evaluating IT solutions for information assurance and vulnerability management across all U.S. federal government agencies."

Achieving Common Criteria validation is also expected to increase visibility and sales of Shavlik's Security Suite abroad, as the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA), signed by 26 countries, specifies that Common Criteria evaluations performed in one country are honored in all of the participating countries. Common Criteria has also been made into a NATO standard for nations seeking to purchase security solutions.

"Shavlik supports the standards implemented by the NSA and NIST, as well as the federal government's other security initiatives," said Todd Rogers, Director of Federal Sales, Shavlik Technologies. "The Shavlik Security Suite is the ideal solution for government agencies and global businesses to automate critical operations including patch management, antivirus + antispyware, configuration management, eliminating policy drift, and ensuring compliance with critical agency directives."
