Security Institute takes on new CEO

The Security Institute : 11 May, 2009  (Company News)
New appointment announced onto the board of directors of the Security Institute
The Security Institute and Skills for Security have announced that the skills body's Chief Executive, David Greer, has been co-opted onto the Board of Directors of the Institute.

With a background in physics, electronics, IT and IT security, education and, most recently, as a director at the Learning & Skills Council, David is relatively new to the security business, but since taking the helm at Skills for Security in 2006 he has established himself as one of the industry's "movers and shakers" and has been energetic in promoting both his own organisation and the interests of the sector it serves.

David described his acceptance onto the Board of the Security Institute as "A real honour: I am indebted to the Board for appointing me. We at Skills for Security are staunch supporters of the Institute and all it stands for, and I will take the opportunity this appointment affords me to further strengthen the excellent relationship between both organisations for the benefit of the wider security family."

Commenting on the Board's decision to invite David to join them, SyI Chairman Mike Bluestone said "I am delighted that David Greer has agreed to join us on the Board of the Security Institute. David brings with him a wealth of skills and experience not only from the security sector, but also from the world of science and education. The raising of industry standards, and the enhancement of training and education in the security sector are key objectives for the Institute, and I am confident that David's presence on our Board, along with his outstanding enthusiasm, will help us drive those objectives forward.'
