Security innovation award for TimeSight application

TimeSight Systems : 25 September, 2009  (Company News)
The use of video lifecycle management technology from TimeSight Systems at Technicolor has earned the company an award at ASIS for innovative application of technology
TimeSight Systems, a specialist in video lifecycle management (VLM), has been honoured along with project team members Technicolor and VAS Security Systems as a Silver Medal Winner in the 2009 Security Innovations Awards. The award from Security Technology Executive magazine was presented at ASIS International on September 22 at the Anaheim California Convention Centre. The team was recognized for VAS Security Systems' implementation of TimeSight's innovative VLM video surveillance appliances at Technicolor's new post-production facility in Hollywood.

"This project stood out because it solved some difficult requirements using some new and innovative technology," one judge said. "The one-year storage requirement for more than 200 IP cameras — many with MegaPixel imagers — was the critical challenge. The TimeSight solution allowed huge savings in the project costs. This project is an excellent example of the value an independent integrator presents when unique requirements call for unique solutions."

TimeSight's industry-changing technology is the only intelligent Network Video recorder (NVR) software to provide automated VLM capability. VLM is the practice of reducing the size of stored video over time, according to business rules, as the video ages and becomes less relevant. The result is massive storage savings.

"After discussing all opportunities with my long-time security consultant, David Sindaha of VAS Security Systems, I knew TimeSight had the type of cutting-edge technology that was innovative and would allow me to continuously improve my system over time while managing costs," said Tony Castorino, director of Physical Security, Technicolor. "More importantly it was innovation with a real effect on my bottom line, and on my ability to impact business operations. Finally I knew it would provide me with the peace of mind that we could indeed capture the highest quality video and archive it for extended periods of time."

"Each year, billions of dollars in intellectual property pass through the hands of the staff at Technicolor," said Charles Foley, chairman and CEO, TimeSight Systems. "With TimeSight, they are now able to get complete video surveillance coverage of every second of every minute of every day in 16 TB of storage and keep that valuable data for one year. The ability to store and manage video, while exponentially improving protection against piracy, was critical to Technicolor as the risk of intellectual property theft continues to rise. We are proud to be recognized, along with Technicolor and VAS Security Systems, for the use of VLM and TimeSight in this application."

TimeSight Systems' Video Surveillance Appliances are being demonstrated in the Anaheim, California Convention Centre at ASIS International, September 21-24 in booth #1650. TimeSight has also been honoured with an ASIS Accolade for its "Unique Approach to Security" and previously won the Security Industry Association's prestigious New Product Showcase "Best Video Device" award at ISC West 2009 in Las Vegas.
