Security Centre of Excellence provides a single source for integrated security

Schneider Electric : 10 December, 2009  (Company News)
Schneider Electric has created a centre of excellence to cater for the needs of companies seeking integrated security solutions from a single source
Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and security solutions, announces the Security Center of Excellence (COE), a single source for best-in-class integrated security solutions for major customers with complex, large scale and multiple location installations. The Center is intended to support national and international companies, federal, state, and municipal government entities, transportation, utilities, oil and gas companies, and other large industries.

National and global companies and government agencies are looking for single providers that can design, install, and support large scale security systems across their enterprise. Specifically, these organizations are seeking solutions that reduce risks and secure their property and personnel. Because of the rapid growth of IP solutions, they demand solutions that offer IT and security convergence for maximum system protection across their building systems and across their enterprise. The solution must also protect the revenue stream by lowering operating expenses through containing costs for insurance, litigation and mediation, as well as by reducing staff requirements and minimizing other losses. Finally, these organizations require vendors who understand applicable government and industry regulations so as to streamline any compliance processes.

"Schneider Electric's security solutions are flexible, feature easy-to-use interfaces, and are designed to leverage IP integration to reduce overall costs," said Lonnie Laue, director, Security COE, Schneider Electric. "They are based on proven technologies and supported by experienced, knowledgeable and professional staff with IT expertise and certification and understanding of related industry regulations and restraints. As security systems converge with IP networks, Schneider Electric offers single platform solutions where video security, access control, intrusion detection, photo badging, paging, alarms, fire and smoke control, and emergency notification are components that work together within a greater system. This level of convergence creates scalable and easy-to-use solutions that deliver what customers want most - flexibility, reliability and peace of mind."

At the heart of the Center of Excellence is a newly constructed State of the Art Customer Solution Center, located in Dallas, Texas. The CSC is the focal point for live demonstrations. Customers will be able to touch and feel a working integrated system. The center is an ideal location for customers to discuss their concerns and needs and work with Schneider Electric professionals on designing a solution that best fits their budget. The Center is also equipped with a virtual demo capabilities for those customer that are pressed for time, the full functions of the system can be demonstrated at a customer site via an online connection to the Customer Solution Center

The Schneider Electric Security COE program provides real value to customers. Complete security, building management system (BMS) and power integration reduces both capital and operating expenses. Schneider Electric security experts provide complete network design and project management, along with custom software applications, personnel records database conversion, and integrations to third-party systems. Dedicated security program management means customers have a single point of contact, volume pricing, centralized billing, standards for all buildings, local service and remote monitoring.

"Schneider Electric is uniquely positioned to provide this type of service to customers with large scale, complex installations because of our wide product offering encompassing everything from power management to complete building systems control and energy solutions," said Laue. "We also natively support every major communication standard in security and building automation including TCP/IP, Ethernet, Modbus, LonWorks and BACnet, enabling our customers to choose best-in-class solutions that will work together as one system. Finally, we have brought together a team of security experts who have significant experience with large, complex and national/global security projects to provide our customers an exceptional level of expertise they can trust."
