Securing Our eCity initiative gains new leader

ESET : 25 January, 2010  (Company News)
Internal Promotion for Marketing Director creates position of Cyber Security Awareness and Education Director at ESET to look after the awareness-based "Security Our eCity" initiative
ESET has announced that Liz Fraumann has been promoted to the position of director of cyber security awareness and education. Fraumann, formerly director of marketing, brings multiple years of program development, marketing and leadership experience to her new role. Fraumann will head ESET's cyber security initiative, Securing Our eCity, which is focused on general awareness, preparedness and education of cyber security for business and consumers.

"We welcome Liz to her new role and look forward to her leadership of our cyber security initiative "Securing Our eCity," said Darin Andersen, chief operating officer of ESET, LLC. "ESET sees that education about safe computing practices is a key part of our region's economic well being. Even the best computer security technology, such as antivirus is no longer enough. Computer users need to be educated about how to avoid tricks aimed at behavioral security vulnerabilities such as clicking on a fake email or web site. "Securing Our eCity" takes this issue "head on" by teaching computer users how to better protect their work products and personal information."

Fraumann is a seasoned veteran of the high-technology industry and was a key player in several start-up organizations. Her career, focused on marketing and marketing communications, spans years of experience with industry giants like NCR and IBM, as well as start-up organizations like Tarari and Lachman Associates. She also has experience in the non-profit sector working with UNIX International and Australian UNIX User Group.

Spearheaded by ESET, the Securing Our eCity initiative is designed to address cyber security on a global scale through educational programs, tools and technologies, and coordination with legislative and law enforcement agencies. In her new role, Fraumann will continue to expand the Securing Our eCity program offerings as well as further develop ESET's partnership with the National Cyber Security Alliance and other organizations throughout the nation that are also dedicated to reducing cybercrime through education and technology. Furthermore, the Securing Our eCity web site includes educational resources developed by cyber security experts to help users better understand cybercrime and how to protect themselves. Available tools include educational videos, podcasts, articles and best practice guides.

In addition to her leadership in the technology industry, Fraumann is active in the San Diego community and is a member of the American Marketing Association. She has also a certified member of the San Diego Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). As a member of CERT, she stands ready to serve in the event of a disaster.
