Secure wireless serial device server.

Korenix Technology : 25 October, 2007  (New Product)
Korenix releases a WEP protected serial device server for secure transmission of serial data over wireless networks.
Korenix is pleased to announce the launch of the JetPort 5801 single-port RS-232/422/485 Wireless Serial Device Server. The Jetport 5801 is a one port RS-232/422/485 to Wireless Serial Device Server with a 802.11b/g wireless LAN up to 54Mbps providing an easy way for high bandwidth connection to hard-to-wire serial devices. The device protects serial data transmission with 128 bit WEP over Wireless LAN and avoid unauthorised accesses or hacks.

The JetPort 5801 can be configured by JetPort Commander without installing additional software. The JetPort 5801 is equipped with two types of power input, terminal block or power jack and can be wall mounted or din-rail mounted with a din-rail kit.

Wired LAN protected by the physical media of the infrastructure identifies unauthorised access attempts easily. Wireless LAN, which is over radio waves, does not have the same physical media protection and is more difficult to avoid illegal access. However, Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) is designed to provide the same level of security as that of a wired LAN. WEP aims to provide security by encrypting data over radio waves so that the serial data is protected between the JetPort 5801 and the Access Point (AP) or another end station.
