Secure networking training centre established

Telos : 07 May, 2009  (Company News)
Telos has created a network security training facility and laboratory at the company's Ashburn location
Telos has opened its new secure networking laboratory and training centre. Dubbed as the Telos Secure Networks Training Centre and Technology Lab, the new facility exhibits a wide floor plan that occupies a 1,000 square foot classroom and is directly connected to a 2,000 square foot computer laboratory. Situated inside its Ashburn facility, the Telos Secure Networks Training Centre and Technology Lab promises to be more than just a new landmark at Telos; it is also seen as a cornerstone in education, development and enhancement of skills relating to a variety of solutions and applications within the secure networking environment.

"The purpose of this training centre is to provide Telos customers the proper amount of education and training on the different solutions that we offer," said Dave Matson, vice president of sales for Telos Secure Networks. With the establishment of the training centre, Telos further extends its services from product creation to product awareness, administration, and management as well. "The facility was also meant as an avenue for our partners who don't have training facilities," added Matson. "Here, they get to know more about the solutions we offer, and at the same time, develop their own skills in managing these solutions in their own facilities."

"The addition of the lab capability will transform us into a full-service solution provider for wired and wireless secure network solutions," said Brendan Malloy, senior vice president and general manager of Telos' Secure Networks Division. "It will help us better serve our government customers by giving them a place where they can learn about new technologies as well as the sustainability of the systems that we install for them."

Training sessions, scheduled to begin in June, will be focused on specific Telos solutions and will be handled by a pool of qualified subject matter experts who are certified on both Telos and partner offerings. Trainees are provided with both theoretical and hands-on exercises that allow them to easily grasp the concepts of the particular product they have acquired. "We now have the ability to train on anything that we install," said Matson. "Moreover, this provides our clients to not only get the idea of what network design and installation is all about, but also get the required training that would enable them to sustain their networks after we've done the installation," he added.

Telos allies with long-time partners Aruba, Dell, Cisco, Fortress, Microsoft and Motorola in pursuing this training endeavour. Initially, trainings offered at the Telos Secure Networks Training Centre and Technology Lab will be open to Telos clients only. "As a secure network integrator, we are constantly in pursuit in adding to the number of certified personnel we have across various product lines," said Matson. "But in the long run, we may be able to see this training capability to reach even in the local government level," he added.
