Secure Driving Licences For Yukon Government

Datacard Group : 05 July, 2010  (Application Story)
Canadian regional government takes cards from Datacard including enrolment, personalisation and training for use on the Citizen ID and Driving Licence programs in use
Datacard Group has was awarded the contract for the Yukon driving licence and citizen ID program. Datacard will help the Yukon government securely issue more than 64,000 cards over a three-year term. The Datacard solution includes secure image capture and enrolment, data management, card and security supplies, card personalization and training.

"Datacard is helping Yukon officials address several complex challenges," said Russell St. John, Datacard senior vice president of Global Marketing. "Working with Datacard, the Yukon Government is modernizing the program, adding digital imaging for the first time. Our solution enhances card and program security, reducing the risk of fraud. We are also helping the government improve overall efficiency."

The secure card stock, combined with personalization technologies such as Datacard DuraGard Optigram laminate, provide level 1, 2 and 3 document security. This solution allows the Yukon government to produce Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA) and AAMVA compliant driving licences and identification documents.

The Yukon government will manage enrolment and issuance via the Web and print cards centrally in the capital of Whitehorse. Training and technical support will help the government achieve self-sufficiency, which is critical considering the territory's remote location.

Datacard branded solutions personalize more than half of all Canadian driving licences. Overall, Datacard Group has worked with government agencies in more than 90 countries, providing secure identification solutions for over 325 projects, including travel documents, national IDs, driving licences, smart IDs and e-government applications.
