Seattle police monitor parking with Intermec CN3

Intermec : 10 October, 2008  (Application Story)
Mobile computer from Intermec provides Seattle police with capability of improving parking enforcement efficiency
Intermec has announced that the Seattle Police Department has selected the Intermec CN3 mobile computer deployed with Advanced Public Safety (APS) PocketParking software as its official parking enforcement solution. The CN3 enhances parking citation issuance efficiency for approximately 80 Seattle parking enforcement officers by expanding data collection and tracking abilities, automating daily work logs and providing photographic capabilities for court evidence.

"The flexibility and advanced features of APS software combined with the ease-of-use and rugged, compact design of the CN3 have noticeably improved processes in the Parking Enforcement Division," said Bill Timmer, project manager, Seattle Police Department. "These Intermec/APS solution capabilities have facilitated the deployment of enhanced officer patrol techniques, resulting in a significant increase in the number of citations issued per officer."

The CN3 and APS PocketParking software combine one of the smallest, most advanced, rugged computers in the world with customisable software specifically designed for law enforcement that includes a fully integrated vehicle chalking system. The Intermec CN3 also features a 2.0 MegaPixel color camera that provides data validation, enabling officers to document parking violation evidence for critical court documents. Additionally, the CN3 has a touch screen display, 128 MB RAM, and is available with an ultra-slim extended battery that still delivers easy-to-carry, all-day power.

"We're delighted that the Seattle Police Department is taking advantage of all the features and benefits of the Intermec CN3," said Pat Byrne, president and CEO, Intermec. "In partnership with APS, we worked to provide a total solution that improves department operations and increases officer efficiency."
