SchoolDefender visitor management system for schools

TouchMate Interactive Systems : 06 August, 2009  (New Product)
TouchMate releases the SchoolDefender visitor management system for the protection of schools from intruders
TouchMate Interactive Solutions has announced the release of SchoolDefender, a new system designed for use by K-12 schools to implement Visitor Management policies to protect against entry by dangerous or unauthorized persons.

SchoolDefender uses an interactive touch-screen kiosk to register all visitors to a school. Within seconds, the kiosk provides a stick-on badge that shows the name and picture of the visitor, what areas of the school the person may visit, and when the badge expires. The lack of a valid badge makes it easy to identify unauthorized persons in a school. No more handwritten sign-in books with illegible and incomplete information. The system enables better compliance with school policies and delivers improved school safety.

SchoolDefender utilizes PassagePointEDU from STOPware, the industry leader in visitor management solutions, to power the system. PassagePointEDU, the most comprehensive software application available today, silently and automatically executes a background check including a search of the national Safe Schools Project database of convicted sexual predators that covers all 50 states. If the visitor is on one of the school's Watch Lists, which can also contain information about child custodial orders and other important details about restricted access to the school, that information is immediately called to the attention of the school administrative and security staff through an electronic message.

SchoolDefender was developed with important safeguards for a visitor's personal information. None of the information received by the system is stored outside the information network domain of the school. All transactions are guarded with the same security and diligence already used by a school to protect its sensitive data.

Staff and faculty can easily schedule and pre-authorize visits for parents and others, which minimizes the resources required to manage and monitor those activities. The system is also an effective tool for recording the presence of central staff and service personnel at a school. In the event of an emergency, it is easy to determine who is visiting, where they are, and to account for their evacuation or other appropriate action.

TouchMate provides many choices with the SchoolDefender system including floor, countertop and wall-mounted touch-screen kiosk self-service stations, inexpensive office monitoring touch-screen stations, printing and ID scanning options, proximity detection for added data security, biometric (fingerprint) input, central Server Computer options, add-on electronic signage, and more. The system will be available in September.
