Sales Territory Expands For Buccal DNA Collectors

Bode Technology : 15 November, 2010  (Company News)
Global sales of forensic DNA collectors from Bode Technology increases to record levels with expansion of territories covered
Bode Technology has surpassed a sales mark of 3.5 million Buccal DNA Collectors in 2010, its greatest sales total ever and another positive sign of Bode's further expansion as a leader in the marketplace. Bolstering the sales of kits was the addition of new territories in the states of Louisiana and Delaware, along with new international sales territories in Hungary and Qatar.

"We are very proud to have reached this milestone in 2010 and are looking forward to further increasing our efforts to assist in the expansion of forensic DNA work around the globe," said Barry Watson, Bode CEO. "The Bode Buccal DNA Collectors are the essential element in kits assisting law enforcement and other agencies in solving violent crime, missing persons and other cold cases, so being able to provide such a large volume to those in the field is a great testament to both the work we are doing and to how fast the market is adopting and implementing new technology."

The Buccal DNA Collector is an easy-to-use, reproducible, effective and non-invasive direct cell collection method. Direct collection of samples maximizes the amount of DNA collected and eliminates transfer steps that cause the loss of DNA and the possible chain of custody issues that occur when using collection devices with FTA paper. The collector protects the sample from contamination, allows for the drying of the specimen and easy to archive the final sample after processing. It is the key part of the kit, which contains all components required for documenting, collecting and transporting a DNA sample.

The new sales marks continue to cement Bode's position as a leader in the field of Forensic DNA innovation both across the nation and around the world. In addition to its Cold Case Forensic work like rape and homicide, Bode staff have assisted in missing persons' identification projects for countries that include Bosnia, Mexico, Argentina, Kuwait, Guatemala, Haiti, East Timor, and Peru as well as South Africa, Iraq, Colombia and others. Bode has responded to and assisted in the identification of the missing from mass loss of life incidents, including the World Trade Centre, the tsunami in Indonesia, and Hurricane Katrina, as well as both domestic and foreign airline crashes.
