SAFEcontractor accreditation for manned guarding group.

Octavian Security : 27 February, 2008  (Company News)
Contract guarding company Octavian have attained accreditation based on high health and safety standards for its employees.
Octavian has joined a select group of contractors in being accredited by an organisation that recognises high standards of health and safety.

The company, founded by the award-winning Sukhi Ghuman, has received SAFEcontractor status, which is designed to promote best practice among UK contractors and reward a company's commitment to continuous improvement.

Jot Engelbrecht, operations and training director at Octavian Security commented: "This accreditation is a reward for the hard work of the whole team in developing processes and procedures that ensure high standards in an industry that has not had a good reputation in the past.

"We recognise that as a leader in the security industry, we need to be showing others best practice and this accreditation is one way of doing that. It also means that we will continue to strive for excellence."

SAFEcontractor accreditation is operated by international safety, health and environmental Risk Management specialists, the National Britannia Group.

James Ostler, managing director of information service at National Britannia, said: "Major organisations can no longer run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety practices.

"More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good Risk Management in the way that Octavian has done. The firm's high standard has set an example, which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the security sector." In order to gain accreditation, businesses undergo a vetting process, which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice.

Companies who are awarded SAFEcontractor status are logged on a database, which is accessible to registered users who are vetting potential new suppliers to ensure they meet high standards required.

SAFEcontractor status is just the latest quality measure attained by Octavian Security, which is already ISO 9001 UKAS accredited, a registered NVQ SITO officer training company, a Gold and Sliver Fox Member of the Security Watchdog scheme, a member of the Road Haulage Association and also currently working towards IIP.
