Russian certification for vulnerability assessment tool

Application Security : 26 September, 2007  (New Product)
AppDetective Pro passes stringent Russian Government information security criteria.
With database security garnering much more attention from both the private sector and government agencies worldwide, Application Security and Informzaschita, Russia's leading information security company, have announced that its AppDetective Pro vulnerability assessment solution, part of its DbProtect database security suite, has been certified by the Russian Federal Service for Technical and Export Control (FSTEK). As the industry's only vendor certified in Russia, Application Security continues to enhance its leadership position as the most comprehensive and widely deployed database security solutions on the market.

To achieve certification, FSTEK tested AppDetective Pro against the stringent Russian technical requirements around information security. The rigorous testing process verified compliance with Russian Government criteria.

"Our FSTEK certification extends our commitment to database security on a global basis, and puts us well on our way to penetrating the burgeoning eastern European market" said George Fyffe, director of sales, EMEA for Application Security. "With the efforts and expertise provided by our partner Informzaschita, this certification enables Russian government agencies to more easily and effectively extend security best practices to the organization's crown jewels - enterprise databases - resulting in continuous improvement and ensuring prompt incident response."

"Testing any piece of software to achieve FSTEK certification is a rigorous process, where the product must meet very specific requirements," said Andrew Stepanenko, Marketing Director, Informzaschita. "As such, this certification allows for Russian state organizations and enterprise businesses to integrate AppDetective Pro into their existing security and IT infrastructure."

A network-based vulnerability assessment scanner, AppDetectivePro discovers database applications with an enterprise's infrastructure and assesses security strength while locating, examining, reporting and fixing security holes and misconfigurations. AppDetectivePro secures today's database application environments and allows organizations to deploy a single solution to proactively harden and audit database applications, strengthen the entire application component of the broader IT infrastructure and provide demonstrable regulatory compliance.
