Rugged voter terminals for South African market

MaxID : 02 January, 2009  (Application Story)
Supplier of robust IT equipment delivers voter registration terminals in time for the South African elections
MaxID has completed the delivery of 30,000 voter registration terminals for the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) in preparation for the South African elections in early 2009. This is the largest contract ever awarded by the IEC, and MaxID's equipment is being used by election officials to identify and register voters.

MaxID supplied these units through Lefatshe Technologies (Pty) Limited, a company providing best-of-breed IT solutions for the South African market. In partnership with MaxID, Lefatshe is proud to be involved in the preparation of the upcoming South African elections by successfully completing this strategic project.

"We were delighted to win the contract to supply this large volume of identity management handheld devices to the Independent Electoral Commission," said Paul Miot, CEO of MaxID's South African operations. "MaxID is the supplier who delivered the first voter registration terminals to the IEC a decade ago, and we are very pleased to have been asked to be part of the renewed effort to enhance mobile voter registration. The successful completion of this project confirms MaxID's ability to manage the manufacturing and delivery of large volumes of complex devices on time and on budget."
