Rugged electronic padlock

Intellikey : 27 April, 2007  (New Product)
Configurable electronic padlock with programmable key management is now available for use in harsh environments.
Intellikey has launched a tough new electronic padlock that has all the features of the Intellikey access control system contained within a rugged casing specially designed for use in exposed environments.

The electronic padlock consists of an Intellikey access controller and is configurable using QuantumT software to specify the access control and feature information for each electronic key in the system. Once set up new keys can be added by just programming the electronic key, with no updating of the electronic padlock itself being necessary. If a key is lost a replacement key will automatically cancel the lost key providing instant security just as if the padlock itself had been replaced but without the need to redistribute keys to all the users.

Designed for use in tough environments, the padlock can withstand a great deal of punishment and its anti-vandal casing can even withstand a determined attack. The replaceable 9V Lithium battery within will keep the unit working in temperatures down to -25C, with a built-in low battery warning, and if the padlock is used less than ten times a day will keep the unit powered for well over three years.

The electronic padlock also features an audit trail facility that keeps a file of the last 1000 users by key identity and records whether they were granted access and at what time. This provides a useful record for those sites that are inaccessible or visited irregularly. The audit information can be retrieved by either interrogating the lock directly or by the use of an audit key which stores the last 250 records and which can then be taken back to the office and the information downloaded via the QuantumT software.

Finally, the electronic padlock's unique AREST feature will automatically prevent access by keys belonging to another site and recognise when an authorised key is being inserted into the lock and instantly disable it.
