Rugged computer with built in illumination and 5 megapixel camera

Mobexx : 03 February, 2010  (New Product)
Designed for use by security and police patrols, the 2T Hydrus Luna portable computer has Xenon flash and megapixel camera for evidence capture purposes
Rugged computer with built in illumination and 5 megapixel camera
Mobexx has added the Xenon flash-equipped 2T Hydrus Luna to its range of customisable ultra-rugged hand held computers. This standard-setting extension to the Hydrus range can light up poorly lit offices, dark warehouses and overcast skies for clear, sharp image capture using the hand held's built-in 5 MegaPixel imager/camera.

The wireless IP67/IP68 rated Hydrus Luna is designed to work in the harshest environments and like the 'standard' models within the range can be readily customised to suit users' specific needs. A long-life battery provides up to 40 hours working life on a single charge, making it possible to perform a wide range of demanding mobile computing activities out in the field. The long working life of the battery also eliminates the need for in-vehicle charging.

The Hydrus Luna is ideal for poorly-lit outdoor applications where the Xenon flash can provide much needed illumination for forensics, law enforcement, security work and fleet management.

The versatile hand held is infinitely expandable and works with a range of data capture modules, including low and high frequency RFID, as well as proximity readers. For rapid application development, Mobexx provides application specific keypad graphics within days of placing the order with the manufacturer. This rapid turnaround is unusual in the mobile computing industry and can mean that system roll-out times using the Hydrus Luna can be much shorter.

"A multi-megapixel integrated camera is a popular feature for today's hand held computer user. However, without a good light source the quality of the image is compromised. The Hydrus Luna overcomes such problems with its built-in, dedicated Xenon flash giving perfect illumination for pin-sharp photography in low light, as well as for capturing bar codes and label images in the darkest of conditions. Coupled with a long-life battery as well as the ability to customise the device to suit any application makes the Hydrus Luna a must have tool for any demanding mobile application," says Mark Dale-Lace, Director, Mobexx.
