RSA Secured Certification For Access Assurance Suite

Courion : 13 October, 2010  (New Product)
The Courion Access Assurance Suite for IT security policy enforcement across the enterprise gains RSA Secured partner program certification for interoperability with the DLP Suite from RSA
Courion Access Assurance Suite version 8.0 has achieved certified solution status with RSA, The Security Division of EMC, through interoperability with the RSA Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Suite. In addition, RSA will offer Courion's full Access Assurance Suite, including the interoperable solution as part of the EMC Select program to help customers both enforce security policy and reduce risk with identity-rich information.

The RSA DLP Suite is engineered to enable organisations to discover and classify their sensitive data no matter where it is and ensure that data is handled properly, reporting on risk reduction and progress towards policy objectives. Courion's Access Assurance Suite ensures that only the right people have the right access to the right resources and are doing the right things. Combined, the interoperable solution is designed to enable IT managers to identify where sensitive data resides, determine who has access to it and make decisions to seamlessly enforce information security policy and help reduce risk with identity-rich information, while improving overall business efficiency. The two products are engineered to enable business managers and data owners to identify if access to sensitive data is appropriate and take the necessary steps to remediate when it is not, greatly improving the process to mitigating the risk of data loss.

"In making these two best-of-breed solutions interoperable, we're giving our customers more knowledge to make better decisions about managing sensitive data," said Kurt Johnson, vice president of corporate development and strategy for Courion. "Sensitive data is constantly being moved and shared across the enterprise, making organisations vulnerable to data breaches and data leakage. Combining IAM and DLP is like adding a coat of armor to that data - IT managers are much better equipped to ensure sensitive data is being managed correctly."

The interoperable solution is engineered to allow IT managers to:

• Identify the location and usage of sensitive data across the enterprise
• Easily monitor and control access to sensitive data and enforce policies around access to that data;
• Receive detailed information on access rights, as well as overall control in a workflow-based system providing information to a broad range of parties including LOB managers, resource owners, and security personnel; and
• Improve business efficiencies, reduce risk with identity-rich information, and enforce information security policy

Through the interoperable products, Risk and Audit groups have greater visibility into the location of sensitive data along with information on who has access to what sensitive data, allowing them to enforce policies around that data. DLP is engineered to identify sensitive data across various data repositories and servers and Courion's IAM solution determines who has access to it. In understanding who has access, executives are better able to develop policies to ensure the sensitive data is being handled properly.

"Identifying the location and managing access to sensitive data is a top concern among IT leaders today," said Ted Kamionek, vice president of Corporate Development at RSA, The Security Division of EMC. "By making these solutions interoperable, we're giving IT managers the power and the intelligence to pinpoint problem areas and determine right away the source of inappropriate access so that new policies can be put in place to prevent internal mishaps and irresponsible use of sensitive data."

Courion's unique Access Assurance approach to identity, access and compliance management ensures that only the right people have the right access to the right resources and are doing the right things. Access Assurance unifies Access Governance, Access Provisioning and Access Compliance in the most complex, heterogeneous environments. This comprehensive approach increases operational efficiency and transparency, strengthens security, and improves compliance, while delivering the industry's fastest time to value and lowest total cost of ownership.
