For over 20 years DMS has been supplying custom built batteries and power systems for a wide range of applications across the whole spectrum of industries.
Rechargeable NiMH batteries are rapidly becoming more advanced and their uses are spreading into a wide variety of applications. Recent developments have seen the introduction of higher capacity NiMH cells. Accordingly, the demands for safe and fast battery chargers have increased. DMS has recognised the importance of providing both the battery and charger as a system to provide safe, reliable performance.
Our range of NiMH batteries combine high energy density with excellent cycle life. In particular the 13Ah F cell and 9Ah D cell combine the advantages of good capacity with light weight, making them particularly suitable for
portable devices. Our NiMH cells have excellent shock and vibration characteristics and with an operating temperature range during discharge of -30C to +60C, these batteries can be used in the harshest of environments. They also have the ability to be discharged in any orientation.
The NiMH battery offers design versatility. They are ideal for custom build designs and standard applications requiring high performance.
Designed to meet the exacting requirements of the DMS' range of high energy density NiMH batteries, the NiMH SafeCharger is available in both 12V & 24V formats and capable of charging up to 20 cells. During the charging process NiMH cells rely on correct termination and charging algorithms to prevent cells from overheating and causing permanent damage. For large capacity batteries such as the 9Ah and 13Ah cells the charger termination is more critical due to the thermal issues of the battery. To overcome these issues the NiMH SafeCharger incorporates three types of charge termination, voltage sensor, temperature sensor and safety timer. Furthermore the charger can recharge the packs in less than 6 hours from a fully discharged
state.
