Retail crime conference to be hosted by USS

Universal Surveillance Systems : 25 March, 2009  (Company News)
Dallas conference to focus on fighting organised retail crime costing an estimated $30 billion annually
Universal Surveillance Systems (USS) will host the Dallas Organized Retail Crime Conference and Symposium to be held on Friday, March 27, 2009 at the JCPenney headquarters in Plano, Texas, from 8 am to 3 pm.

With US retailers losing upwards of $30 billion each year to Organized Retail Crime (ORC), according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the conference provides a forum for regional loss prevention professionals, law enforcement, retailers, and government to network and work together to address ORC issues.

"USS is sponsoring this event because it is critical for retailers, law enforcement and government agencies to work together to find effective solutions to combat the existing and ever-growing threat of ORC," said Adel Sayegh, President and CEO of USS Corp. "This conference is a reflection of how serious ORC has become," Sayegh continued. "As we face the economic uncertainties of our time, this meeting of legislators, law enforcement and loss prevention experts from the retail industry happens at a crucial time. ORC has had a tremendous negative impact on retailers and their loyal customers. I am certain that by coming together, we can significantly reduce ORC's impact on retail businesses in the greater Dallas, Texas, area and beyond."

The Dallas Organized Retail Crime Conference has a diverse lineup of speakers that will present on many facets of ORC, including; legislative updates, mall security training, economic impacts of ORC, and loss prevention strategies.

In addition to the main speaker, Deputy Chief Brian Harvey, Dallas Police Department, VIP speakers include:

* Joe Williams, Vice President Regulatory and Member Services, Texas Retailers Association
* Charlie Tyner, Security Director, Kroger
* Paul Jones, VP of Asset Protection, RILA
* Frank Muscato, Organized Retail Crime Investigations Supervisor, Walgreens
* James Abney, Field Organized Retail Crime Manager, Gap Inc.
* Kenny Ochoa, Organized Retail Crime Investigator, Stage Stores Inc.
* Bill Davis, National Account Manager, USS Corporation

Experts in dealing with ORC from different retail companies and law enforcement / government agencies will also participate in an interactive Question & Answer panel session. Officer Tommy Hudspeth from Irving Police Department and officials from local police departments will sit on the panel at the conference, as well as retail representatives from JCPenney, Walgreens, Kroger and CVS. Panelists include:

* Officer Tommy Hudspeth, Irving Police Department
