Redstone examines security implications of changing threats

Redstone Managed Solutions : 28 April, 2009  (Technical Article)
Changing risks and the need for new security system delivery models is the theme of Redstone Managed Solutions' presence at InfoSecurity Europe
At this year's Infosecurity Europe Redstone Managed Solutions, in conjunction with IBM, will show how the evolution from the physical to the digital world has transformed the security landscape, with attacks becoming more frequent and sophisticated.

The impact on security threats facing organisations is marked and it is likely that emerging technological and social trends will have far-reaching implications for enterprise security in the next five years

Martin Blackhurst, Product Manager, Redstone Managed Solutions, said: "As IT is ingrained in virtually every aspect of a company's activities, IT risks are a major component of operational risk. Organisations should be aware of their own threat landscape, knowing where their vulnerabilities lie, enabling informed decisions to be made based on risk analysis before rushing into mass, sometimes unnecessary, patching across the infrastructure.

"Many organisations are re-examining their business continuity and resiliency strategies. Companies are realising that disaster recovery plans are simply not enough, as even everyday small disasters can have big consequences for a company's ability to conduct business."

Securing virtualised environments continues to be a prominent issue. Other security concerns are isolation management capabilities, prepackaged security for easy deployment, trusted identities, predictable security of applications and securing mobile devices.

Redstone Managed Solutions believes that likely attacks will target:

* Session initiation protocol proxy servers

* Domain name system servers

* The upper layers of the open system interconnect stack
