Red light traffic control in Florida city

American Traffic Solutions : 06 August, 2008  (Application Story)
Casselberry is to install traffic light cameras to bring accident rates under control at major intersection
On July 28, the City Council of Casselberry in Florida approved a contract with American Traffic Solutions to become the City's red-light camera traffic safety program. Designated intersections will be equipped with ATS' latest ultra-high resolution digital cameras.

"ATS will help make Casselberry streets safer by modifying driver behaviour to reduce the preventable crashes caused by red-light runners," said Casselberry Police Chief John Pavlis. "ATS' depth of Florida experience, advanced technology and enforcement tools made them the perfect partner for Casselberry."

ATS serves more than 120 communities in 19 states with red-light and speed camera programs. In Florida, ATS already serves, is contracted, or has been selected by Apopka, Aventura, Brooksville, Coral Gables, Cutler Bay, Florida City, Key Biscayne, Miami Gardens, North Miami, Orange County, Palm Coast, Pembroke Pines, Port Richey, Satellite Beach, Sweetwater, Temple Terrace and Winter Springs. ATS also contracts with the Florida Turnpike Enterprise to provide ATS' PlatePass cashless toll payment services for rental car companies and their customers who use the Florida toll roads.

Casselberry is located in Seminole County, 20 miles northeast of downtown Orlando. Two major roadways, US Highway 17-92 and State Road 436, intersect, connecting the City of Casselberry to all of central Florida. The city is engaged in development and redevelopment along the US Highway 17-92 corridor, which presents mixed use, retail and residential, governmental and recreational opportunities.
