Lumension Security is running a webcast to help organisations understand the management requirements for personal data |
|

As organizations look to tighten data security measures, cybercriminals continue to find ways to steal personal information. In fact, according to Javelin Strategies, identity theft has increased 11 percent from 2008 to 2009. If this pattern continues, one in every 20 Americans will fall victim of identity theft this year. The Red Flags Rule, which will be enforced by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) as of June 1, 2010 and carries significant financial recourse for non-compliance, requires organizations across multiple industries to implement additional data security measures as well as be able to identify the danger signs of fraudulent activity. Organizations that fail to comply could be slapped with a significant fine of up to a $3,500 for every known violation.
Lumension is hosting a webcast, Creating Your Red Flags Rule Playbook, which discusses what organizations need to know about the Red Flags Rule and how to effectively comply with the requirements. Participating in the panel discussion are industry experts: BrightFly's Research Director, Brandon Dunlap and Lumension's Director of Solution Marketing, Jeff Hughes.
In this webcast, organizations will learn key tips to developing a strategic Red Flags Rule playbook to effectively enhance data security practices, harmonize data security control requirements across other data protection regulations such as PCI DSS, monitor controls that the Federal Trade Commission mandates and respond to red flags as they are identified.
Creating Your Red Flags Rule Playbook will take place on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 8:00 am PDT / 11:00 am EDT. It will be led by Brandon Dunlap, research director, BrightFly and Jeff Hughes, director of solution marketing, Lumension
