Privileged Access Provides Secure Remote Database Access Management

E-DMZ Security : 11 August, 2010  (New Product)
The Total Privileged Access Management product from e-DMZ Security is enabling organisations to provide secure database account management for remote users without database performance impacts
e-DMZ Security has enhanced its Total Privileged Access Management (TPAM) suite to deliver secure, scalable and cost effective remote system administrator database account management. Recognizing the operation issues and excessive costs that can be associated with adding native secure remote account management to existing database deployments, TPAM provides the ability to create a secure shell (SSH) session to the server hosting the database, and tunnel the necessary SQL traffic though this SSH tunnel.

Once the database is configured in TPAM for system administrator (SA) account management, the client simply needs to enable SSH tunneling as the database connection method. Remote database account management SQL commands are tunneled through the same SSH that already exists on the database server. For added security, TPAM supports DSS key authentication in the establishment of the tunnel, assuring no password or other account information is exposed.

"Today's security and compliance focused world demands that the enterprise take appropriate steps to manage the release and change control for system administrator accounts," said Scott Hammack, CEO of e-DMZ Security. "Using our TPAM solution for system administrator account password management on databases allows a company to cost effectively resolve the issue of account management being done remotely over a clear text connection. More specifically, TPAM solves the issue of secure remote database account management without the need for expensive security packages at the database level, and without impacting the performance of the database."

Enterprise customers can take advantage of TPAM's ability to provide secure database account management on a scalable level to save hundreds, thousands and even millions of dollars depending on a company's database deployment. For example, a large financial services customer was able to save over one million dollars with no performance impact, enabling TPAM to manage SA accounts over the purchase of the database vendor's security package.
