Privacy Breach Detection Software Fro Texas Hospital

Fair Warning : 03 September, 2010  (Application Story)
FairWarning is supplying a large not-for-profit hospital in Texas with software to enable the institution to become compliant with patient data privacy standards
FairWarning has announced that Memorial Hermann, a not-for-profit healthcare system in Texas, has selected FairWarning 2.9.2 to enhance their patients' privacy.

Memorial Hermann serves the greater Houston community with 11 hospitals and a large network of clinics. The healthcare organization makes it their goal to consistently search for better ways to diagnose and treat patients while harnessing the latest technologies, and the addition of FairWarning to their privacy and security toolkit is a part of that effort.

FairWarning will be providing privacy auditing and monitoring across Memorial Hermann's nearly 20,000 employees. The deciding factors in the selection process included:

• Specialized privacy breach detection designed for the healthcare industry, based on experience with 300 hospitals and 1,400 clinics
• Advanced analytics and reporting capabilities designed specifically for Privacy Officers
• References and case studies from award-winning customers using a variety of clinical systems

"Memorial Hermann is continuously committed to delivering quality care and ensuring patient safety. Our patients should have greater comfort knowing that Memorial Hermann has implemented state of the art privacy monitoring and ARRA HITECH compliance measures to protect their privacy and security," said Memorial Herman Privacy Officer Carol Paret. "First and foremost, we want our patients to focus on care and recovery."

The FairWarning 2.9.2 solution provides patient privacy auditing for compliance with privacy regulations including ARRA HITECH, HIPAA, and others. FairWarning 2.9.2 enables healthcare organizations to monitor patient privacy across all of their applications, and automates the monitoring and detection of the most common identity theft, medical identity theft, and snooping patterns, including over 100 behaviour-based scenarios.

"Memorial Hermann joins other leaders in the healthcare industry in setting a high standard for patient privacy," says Kurt Long, Founder and CEO. "Their patients can rest easy knowing the organization has taken a proactive approach to driving out the institutional risk of a privacy incident."
