Power controllers for IP systems

Altronix : 24 September, 2009  (New Product)
Altronix reveals its latest line in power solutions for IP video networks including PoE products for powering cameras over Ethernet cabling
Altronix is continuing to expand its extensive suite of products with new introductions at ASIS 2009 that enhance today's complex systems. Featured introductions include the new Entrada Network Access Power Controller Series with advanced IP functionality, HubSat Outdoor Passive UTP Transceiver Hubs with integral camera power, VertiLine DC Rack Mount Power Supplies, additional ReServ UPS solutions, versatile SAV DC Wall Mount Power Supplies, and higher current VR Series Power Conversion Modules.

In addition, Altronix is featuring its recently introduced NetWay Mid-Span PoE Products that provide reliable and consistent power over standard network infrastructure, and can accommodate PoE and conventional IP Video cameras, as well as edge devices.

"As the implementation of networked systems utilizing PoE compliant devices continues to increase at a rapid pace, so has the demand for reliable power solutions to drive these devices. At the same time, analog systems continue to grow in sophistication and are increasingly being integrated onto a network platform," said Alan Forman, President, Altronix. "Altronix is taking the lead in both areas with new product introductions that deliver more than just power to provide versatile functionality for today's hybrid market."

New introductions from Altronix at ASIS 2009 include:

First in the new Entrada Network Access Power Controller Series is the Entrada-16 - a versatile access power controller with password protected local or remote IP connectivity for versatile programming operations from anywhere a system technician has Internet access. An integral touch pad enables manual programming and a backlit easy-to-read LCD displays system status at a glance. In addition, e-mail notification reports specific system conditions which may require service, effectively eliminating unnecessary and costly service calls.

HubSat4WP Outdoor Passive UTP Transceiver Hub transmits UTP video, RS422/RS485 data and power over a single CAT-5 or higher structured cable for up to four cameras. HubSat4WP can also be utilized as an accessory module to transmit video from up to 4 cameras over a single CAT-5 or higher structured cable back to the HubWay, HubWayLD or HubWayLDH Passive and Active UTP Transceiver Hubs. In addition, the HubSat4D provides power to these cameras locally to eliminate the possibility of voltage drop associated with long cable runs.

VertiLine Rack-Mount DC Power Supplies offer 8 or 16 PTC protected power outputs in either 12VDC or 24VDC configurations and provide up to 16 amps of power.

ReServ2 and the ReServ2E Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) solutions provide 24VAC power for cameras during normal, brownout and power fail conditions. Additionally, the ReServ2E includes a built-in Ethernet port to provide e-mail alerts for notification of AC status, battery and power output conditions.

The new ReServ1WP Outdoor UPS is housed in a NEMA rated weather-resistant enclosure and provides seamless 12VDC and 24VAC for outdoor cameras during normal, brownout and power fail conditions.

SAV DC Wall Mount Power Supplies are now UL/cUL listed in models offering 4, 9, 18 and 36 outputs, and provide 12VDC for powering video surveillance cameras and other accessories.

VR5T and VR5BT Power Conversion Modules convert up to 24VAC or 24VDC input to 12VDC at 3 amp max. The VR5BT version features a built-in charger for sealed lead acid or gel-type batteries.

"Security professionals around the world place their confidence in Altronix to keep their mission-critical security systems up and running every day," said Mr. Forman. "Our commitment to develop and implement new technologies ahead of the industry curve is only equaled by our continued focus on delivering the most reliable solutions available."
