Pose Correction Filtering Available On Biometric Facial Search Tool

Cognitec Systems : 20 June, 2011  (New Product)
FaceVACS-DBScan from Cognitec provides law enforcement agencies with efficient facial image database search facilities using biometric algorithms including a 3-D modeller for performing pose correction for easier identification
Pose Correction Filtering Available On Biometric Facial Search Tool

Cognitec Systems has announced the release of an extended version of its facial database search product FaceVACS-DBScan. The new version includes several new features for the Examiner tool, a user interface for law enforcement customers.

FaceVACS-DBScan is a software package that assists customers in finding images in large photo databases by comprehensive facial image analysis. Previous versions of the product are being used by Government and Law Enforcement customers world-wide in order to prevent ID fraud during ID document issuance or to identify suspects during a law enforcement investigation.

The Examiner tool of FaceVACS-DBScan allows enhancement of low-quality images, which are typically provided as crime scene photos or videos. This greatly increases the matching rates for identification against an agency’s mug shot repository. With the present release of the software, additional enhancement tools have been introduced. In particular, the new ‘Pose Correction’ tool allows the user to automatically generate frontal views of a face from photos that show lateral views, thereby further increasing matching rates. The tool applies a 3-dimensional transformation of the face shown on the photo.

The Examiner tool also provides a set of powerful image inspection tools that help identify the person in question accurately and in a timely manner, allowing investigators to act upon the search results in the critical time period after a crime has been committed.

The new version is now available for Cognitec’s customers and partners.
