Port TWIC Installation Gains Award For MorphoTrak

MorphoTrak : 22 November, 2010  (Company News)
The MorphoAccess biometric based access control system installed at a Kentucky port by MorphoTrak has gained a homeland security award from Government Security News
The MorphoAccess TWIC solution for the Henderson, Kentucky port facility was recognized as the top biometric access control solution by the judges in the Government Security News 2010 Homeland Security Awards.

"We're delighted to receive this recognition from the respected Government Security News publication," said Daniel Vassy, President and CEO of MorphoTrak. "It speaks to the excellent performance of MorphoTrak's TWIC readers. Specifically designed for use in harsh outdoor environments, these readers have once again proven their unmatched synthesis of performance and robustness."

"MorphoTrak's expertise in biometric technology for real world applications strengthens the safety of our nation," said Adrian Courtenay, managing partner at GSN. "We're pleased to honour MorphoTrak as a Winner in the 2010 Homeland Security Awards."

Through participation in more than 90% of the TSA sponsored TWIC pilots and work with early adopters like the Henderson facility, MorphoTrak has shown the reliability and accuracy of biometrics within the TWIC framework.

Certified by TSA for all TWIC operations, MorphoTrak's TWIC compliant readers perform secure three-factor authentication, capturing cardholder data from the TWIC and performing off-card biometric matching over an encrypted interface.

Every year Government Security News recognizes the achievements of security vendors and government agencies at the federal, state and municipal levels with the Homeland Security Awards. This year's awards dinner in Washington D.C. on Nov. 8th brought together hundreds of government and industry executives to recognise over 40 homeland security innovators.

Vendor solution awards included Best Integrated System for HSPD-12/FIPS 201 Compliance, Best Contraband/Explosive Detection, and others. Government agency recognition was given for Most Effective Security Programs for Seaports, Borders, State Governments, among others.

The Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program is mandated by the US Coast Guard and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to secure sensitive areas of US ports. TSA is conducting pilots to evaluate biometric reader performance and impact on business.
