PGP recruits further expertise to board of Directors

Two new board members at PGP bring expertise and experience of the IT security industry
PGP Corporation has announced appointments of two world renowned security experts to the PGP Corporation Business Advisory Board, Taher Elgamal, recognised across the industry as the "inventor of SSL," and Richard Horne, Director of Electronic Protection for Barclays Global Retail and Commercial Bank. As members, Elgamal and Horne will join other international experts on cyber security, emerging technologies, computer forensics, and Internet crime on providing their specific knowledge to help PGP Corporation address customer, user requirements in diverse markets and industries.

"We are honoured to add the expertise and insight of these two leading security experts to our Business Advisory Board," said Phillip Dunkelberger, president and CEO of PGP Corporation. "Each are both highly regarded in their respective fields and will join an esteemed group of advisors that are committed to helping PGP Corporation become the defacto encryption security standard among our global customers."

Prior to joining PGP Corporation's Business Advisory Board, Elgamal was the Chief Technology Officer of Tumbleweed Communications until its acquisition by Axway, Inc. He was also the Founder/Chair of Securify, and was the former Chief Scientist of Netscape. He is recognised in the industry as the 'inventor of SSL,' having written the base algorithm used in SSL. Elgamal's key industry contributions include helping to establish SSL as the Internet Security standard, as well as inventing the DSS government standard for digital signatures along with several other industry and government standards in data security.

"PGP's innovation and market leadership in encryption and data protection technologies is making a significant impact on the security industry," said Taher Elgamal. "It is a great pleasure for me to join PGP's Business Advisory Board and provide counsel to such a forward-thinking company that is changing the way we think and use encryption technology."

Currently, Horne acts as the Director of Electronic Protection for Barclays Global Retail and Commercial Bank. In this role he has accountability for Information Security and Privacy Incident Response, Electronic Discovery and Cyber-Forensics, and provision of Encryption services globally. Prior to this role, Horne was Chief Operating Officer for Global IT operations of the Retail and Commercial Bank, and acted as Interim CISO. Before joining Barclays, he was Head of Electronic Commerce and Security Services for Global Crossing in the UK after leading development of cryptographic services in embedded hardware for Racal.
